3 Questions about Auto Shanghai

December 10, 2020

Trade shows in China are picking up speed again: Auto Shanghai will take place from April 21 to 28, 2021. Günter Miedaner, project manager at IMAG, which has been the European co-organizer of Auto Shanghai since 2003, answers three questions about the fair:

Auto Shanghai 2021, one of the world's largest auto shows, will take place in China in April. How do you assess the situation?

The Chinese car market has been recovering significantly for some time. Interest from foreign companies is still correspondingly high. We are very much looking forward to being able to offer international supplier companies a platform in China again. And events such as Auto China 2020 or bauma China have shown in recent weeks that, with appropriate concepts, even large trade shows can currently be held successfully and safely.

Is there any special support for German companies that want to participate in the fair?

Yes. As in previous years, at the request of the VDA, which has supported the trade show for decades, there will again be a German Pavilion in 2021, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics. At this joint company stand, small and medium-sized companies from Germany can exhibit at particularly favorable conditions.

What trend themes are already becoming evident for Auto Shanghai?

Quite clearly New Mobility. We will be dedicating a separate platform to this topic at the trade show in 2021. Everything there will revolve around electromobility, autonomous driving and digitization. China is the world's most important market for future technologies in the automotive sector, not least thanks to government subsidies, smart city initiatives and the growing integration of car, road and urban infrastructure.
